Gosaikunda Trek 7N 8D Itinerary

Our Gosaikunda Trek Itinerary is of 7 nights and 8 days long, which starts off with a drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche taking around 8 hours of a road trip through a scenic terrain of northern part Kathmandu. The trek begins from Dhunche following the trail through forests and settlements to reach Sing Gompa. From where the trail continues to ascend through forest to reach Gosaikunda at 4380m. It only takes 2 days to reach this majestic sacred place from Dhunche. After exploring and worshipping with a night halt at Gosaikunda, we trace back to Dhunche taking two more days at the same previous places. From Dhunche, we will get a pick up for a return drive back to Kathmandu, where our trip concludes.

  • Day 1 Kathmandu (1400m) Arrival

    Upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed one of our representatives and transferred to the hotel. Check-in and get refreshed. Later our representative will hold a short briefing session to explain the further program details. We will take this day to acquire the permits and TIMS card to enter Langtang National Park.

  • Day 2 Kathmandu to Dhunche (2030m): Drive 7-8 hours

    After breakfast, we will drive to Dhunche, the gateway to the Langtang region. We don’t have the option to fly there, so we have to drive for 7-8 hours depending upon the en route traffic and road condition, however, this is a scenic drive throughout the winding road through the cities, town, villages, rivers, gorges, etc. This is also an interesting road trip to know a little more about the geography of Nepal from a bit closer. For lunch, we will pull over en route at a decent available place.

    Upon arrival at the Dhunche, we will check-in at the guesthouse and get refreshed with some rest. In the evening, we can enjoy strolling around in the streets of Dhunche, good for acclimatization as well.

  • Day 3 Dhunche to Sing Gompa or Chandanbari (3250m): Trek 6 hours

    Today is the first day of our short trek. Having breakfast at the hotel/guesthouse, we start off our trek to Singompa / Chandanbari. Initially, the trail ascends passing through one of the mineral water plants in the settlements and continues further through the greens taking us to a bridge over a stream before Ghatta Khola settlement. The trail slowly continues northward in a steep climb through the oak, pine and rhododendron forest. After 5-6 hours of walk, we finally reach Sing Gompa (3250m). This beautiful small village is also known as Chandanbari.

    We will have our dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse here.

  • Day 4 Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4380m): Trek 6 hours

    After breakfast, we continue our journey to Gosaikunda and today is the day we will reach there. But first, our ascending trail heads eastward from Sing Gompa towards Lauribinayak. One of the popular vantage points from where we can enjoy the stunning view of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Himal Chuli, Manaslu and more Tibetan peaks. After crossing a craggy trail, few shelters and a ridge, we finally arrive at the first view of the lakes in Gosaikunda. Even the basin has dozens of lakes, there are bigger three significant and holiest lakes. The first lake in our path to the right is Saraswati Kund, followed by a bigger one the Bhairab Kunda and third one we arrive is at Gosaikunda (4380m).

    The significance of this holy lake takes us to the ancient era of Gods, when it was believed that Lord Shiva saved the world by swallowing a poison that was about to destroy and to get relief from the heat of the poison, he used his trident to penetrate the glacier to get the water out as an elixir and drank. Hence, this sacred Gosaikunda was formed.

    We will explore the holy place and take a dip in the lake if we like or save it for tomorrow. Enjoy the breathtaking sacred paradise.

  • Day 5 Gosaikunda to Sing Gompa (3250m): Trek 5 hours

    Today is a return day! After warm breakfast, we will start off our return descent to Sing Gompa. If we choose to explore the morning beauty of Gosaikunda, we can stay for a while and enjoy. The return trail is the same as we approached. Tracing back the previous settlements and forest via Lauribinayak, but this time through a descending trail, we will reach Sing Gompa after 5-6 hours of walk. After arrival, we will check-in and get refreshed with some rest. Dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse in Sing Gompa.

  • Day 6 Sing Gompa to Dhunche (2030m): Trek 5 hours

    After warm breakfast, we will continue our trek. The trail still continues to descend through the same old path crossing ridge, forests, bridge and shelters. After 5-6 hours of walk, we will reach Dhunche. Upon arrival, we will check-in at the guesthouse and get refreshed with some rest. Our vehicle will pick us up from here tomorrow for a return drive to Kathmandu.

  • Day 7 Dhunche to Kathmandu (1400m): Drive 8 hours

    In the morning after breakfast, we will be picked up by our vehicle for a drive to Kathmandu. The drive is via the same route we arrived earlier and will take around 7-8 hours depending upon the en route traffic condition. We will pull over en route for a lunch in a decent available place. Arrive at Kathmandu hotel and complete the check-in. We will get refreshed and some rest.

    In the evening, we will get together and enjoy a farewell dinner party with a special Nepali Cousin. Retire the night at the hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 8 Return Departure Farewell

    Breakfast at the hotel. Transferred to the Kathmandu airport depending upon the flight departure. We bid a warm farewell for your return departure and gratefulness for your presence being with us while in Nepal.
