Upper Mustang Trek 15N 16D is one of the adventurous treks through off the beaten arid and isolated terrains in trans-Himalaya, the northwestern part of the Annapurna region. The region is still impressively appraising the fascinating cultures and lifestyle attracting more travelers and researchers inward even in such a set of forbidden landscapes.

This Upper Mustang trek is a journey to Lo Manthang at 3800 meters, the capital city of Mustang District of Nepal. The journey begins from Kathmandu to Pokhara to Jomsom initially, having options to be transferred either by a flight or via a road trip. Jomsom (2700m) is the headquarter of Mustang, from where we trek up to Kagbeni (2800m)- the gateway to Upper Mustang/Lo Manthang. From Kagbeni, the actual trek begins through the deepest gorge of the world- the Kaligandali Gorge! The trekkers will travel through the bank of Kaligandaki river, ascending and descending along with the trail through stunning natural colorful boulders, small deserted villages, alpine fields, red mud Gompas and chortens or monasteries, longest mani walled trails, through the river streams, high passes and ridges. These are what we can expect during the trek. To take our breath away, there will be more gorgeous mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tilicho, Bhrikuti Peak, Tukuche, to name a few- showing off their spectacular display boldly. While in the Upper Mustang- Lo Manthang, one can visit King’s Palace and the Prince of Upper Mustang, interesting Monasteries, settlements and get acquainted with the primitive Tibetan cultures. Upper Mustang is also known as the Mini Tibet of Nepal due to the domination of Tibetans for centuries.

This trek is not only for the tough trekkers but suits the regular visitors and the travelers who appreciate the nature, culture and adventure and seek the travel purpose for research in geology, archeology or anthropology.

This Upper Mustang trek or Lo Manthang trek is based on a combination of flight, drive and trek. The trip can always be customized according to the requirements, with the addition or deduction of the trip days and also altering the mode of transportation as per your travel need. The travel is possible throughout the year, however, the best time to travel is in April through October due to its pleasant weather for the trek.
