Lhasa Namtso Trek with EBC 14N 15D Itinerary

This Lhasa Namtso Trek with EBC 14N 15D starts from Kathmandu with an hour trans-Himalayan flight to Lhasa, offering the most stunning views of the Himalayan range. This is a guided tour, so there will be our representative taking care of throughout the tour. Since this is going to be a 14 nights and 15 days trek and tour program, there will be an amazing sightseeing experience within this short period. During the tour, we will explore the most vibrant Potala Palace, Norbulingka Monastery, Sera Monastery, Jokhang temple, the lively Barkhor Streets and many more. The next part of the trip is a trek to Namtso lake, which will cover another 5 days. Then the final part is a driving tour towards Shigatse and Shegar/Tingri from where we will take a road to Rongbuk (5050m) for Everest Base Camp hike. Then, from EBC, we hike back to Rongbuk and drive to Kerung. Crossing the Nepal-Tibet border at Rasuwagadhi, we will finally drive to Kathmandu, where the tour concludes.

  • Day 1 Kathmandu/Lhasa (By Flight)

    Morning flight from Kathmandu for about an hour over the panoramic Himalayan Ranges to the capital of Tibet. "Lhasa”. Lhasa at an altitude of 3650m is situated on the north bank of Kyichu River. Lhasa in Tibetan means "Place of the Gods", the residence of the Dalai Lama., on arrival we will be met by the local representative and transferred to our respective hotel. (60 km/1hr). Full rest in the afternoon to acclimatize to the environment.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing in Lhasa (3700m)

    After breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing of Potala Palace, and & Norbulinka. Potala Palace, this legendary palace built atop a single hill is synonymous with Tibet by the first foremost king Songtsen Gompa. Norbulingka meaning 'Treasure Park' covers an area of around 360,000 sq. m. and is considered to be the biggest man-made garden in Tibet. After sightseeing, we will be transferred to the hotel.

  • Day 3 Sightseeing in Lhasa (3700m)

    After breakfast, full-day sightseeing of Sera Monastery, Jokhang Monastery, Barkhor Market. Sera Monastery, 5 Kms north of Lhasa, Sera setting is one of Lhasa's prettiest monasteries. Once a community of more than 5,000 monks resided here and was virtually extinguished by the Chinese. Jokhang Temple, situated in the heart of Old Lhasa, it houses Tibet's most precious religious relic, a golden Shakyamuni Buddha which was brought as a gift by the Chinese Princess Wen Cheng on the occasion of her wedding to the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gompo. Barkhor Market place, which is the religious and social focus of Lhasa. After sightseeing, we will be transferred to the hotel.

  • Day 4 Drive to Damsung (4130m). Short Trek.

    This is the day you will begin your trek. After a drive along the Tibet-Qinghai highway to Yangpachen and further to Damsung which is at the altitude of 4130m, we will have a short hike through the beautiful Tibetan meadow and call it a day and camp. We will also visit a monastery on the way.

  • Day 5 Trek to herder’s camp (7-8 hrs.)

    This day consists of 7-8 hours trek. In this day we pass through glaciated valley and herder’s camp (5000m) where we’ll camp for the night.

  • Day 6 Trek to Kong La (5171m) (6-7 hrs.)

    Descending to the Broad Basins and hiking along green Tibetan Meadows, today we will cross the Kong La from where we can have an amazing view of Namtso Lake and Nyenchen Thangla Ranges.

  • Day 7 Trek to Namtso Lake (4718m) and Tashi Do and (7-8 Hrs)

    Today, we get to witness the nomadic camps and their herds of animals as we hike through the vast prairie. We will enjoy our lunch by the Namtso lake (4718m) and enjoy the breathtaking view this heavenly holy lake popular amongst Tibetan pilgrims for its cave hermitage. Later, we will follow the jeep trail all the way to Tashi Do hermitage and finally camp at the end of the day.

  • Day 8 Rest and exploration day at Tashi Do

    This day is put aside for self-exploration of Tashi Do Hermitage and the Namtso lake.

  • Day 9 Drive from Namtso - Yangbachen - Lhasa

    After breakfast, we will drive back to Lhasa via Yangbachen. Spend the night at the hotel.

  • Day 10 Drive from Lhasa – Yamdrok Lake - Gyangtse (3990 m), 350 kms

    Today, we will drive via Yamdrok, the Turquoise Lake to Gyangtse across Kampa la pass (5050m) and Karo la (5045m) passes. Visit Kubum stupa and Pelkor Chode Monastery.

  • Day 11 Drive from Gyangtse – Shalu - Shigatse (3860 m), 90 kms

    On the 11th day, we will drive to Shigatse and on the way, we will visit Shalu Monastery (3980m) and Tashilhunpo Monastery (3800m), the seat of Panchen Lama. Panchen Lama is considered the second-highest Buddhism Tutor in Tibet after Dalai Lama.

  • Day 13 Drive from Shegar – Rongbuk (5200 m)

    Drive via Pangla pass (5200m) to Rongbuk Monastery which is the world's highest monastery situated at 5200m. We call it a day and rest in Rongbuk Guest House.

  • Day 14 Hike from Rongbuk – EBC – Rongbuk. Drive to Kerung

    We will get a fabulous opportunity to watch the sunrise over Everest in the Rongbuk which is about 4 Km away from the northern Everest Base Camp (5200m). After watching the sunrise over Everest, we drive on to Kerung and settle there for the night.

  • Day 15 Drive from Kerung - Kathmandu

    On the final day of this tour, we will drive to Kerung and on to Kathmandu. On the way, we will stop by to visit Milarepa Cave. Descending from the high Tibetan Plateau to the lush greenery of Nepalese countryside will be the perfect ending of this fantastic tour.
