Poonhill Trek 5N 6D Itinerary

The Poonhill Trek 5N 6D Itinerary starts from Kathmandu, Nepal with a drive to Pokhara on the first day. The actual trek begins from Nayapul where we reach on the second day in our vehicle. The trek trail passes through the beautiful jungles, villages, tiny settlements, etc. where one can hardly escape from the view of mountains through the trail. We first reach Ulleri climbing the stone paved steps. On the third day, we continue our step towards Ghorepani, the gateway to Poonhill. Our 1-hour walk in the early morning on the fourth day towards northwest will take us to the ultimate vantage- The Poon Hill at 3210m. Enjoy the 360 views from atop and the sunrise view from the east gushing the vibrant rays to the awaited icy mountains changing to the gold. From Poonhill, we retrace our trail back to Ghorepani and continue towards Tadapani, below the Mt. Fishtail. On the fifth day, we will trek to Ghandruk, the large settlements of Gurung. After a half an hour more walk downhill will take us to Kimchi, where we get ourselves boarded into our vehicle and hit the bumpy road back to Pokhara. Our tour concludes on the sixth day after a return drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu.

  • Day 1 Kathmandu to Pokhara (1400 m) Drive. 6 hours

    Our journey to Poonhill starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara initially. It will take around 6-7 hours of driving along the winding road through the beautiful rivers and villages, greens and thrills. Enjoy the ride along with the diversifying landscapes nature has offered to build Nepal.

    We arrive in the afternoon at Pokhara and check-in at the hotel. Some rest and refreshment. Part of the leisure time can be used for the preparation for the trekking the next day. Evening time is for the walk around along the bank of this vibrant Fewa Lake.

  • Day 2 Pokhara to Nayapul Drive 2 hrs. Nayapul to Ulleri (2070m) Trek 6 hrs.

    After breakfast, we will take a drive for Nayapul (1070m), it takes around 2 hours to reach there. Upon arrival, we will start our trek towards Ulleri (2070m) this day. It will take around 5-6 hours walk depending upon the pace, to reach Ulleri. During the trek, we will encounter pretty villages, teahouses, vibrant forests, landscapes, etc. En route we will cross the suspension bridge over Tikhedhunga river, from where our trail changes to ascend through a stone stair of over 3200 steps all the way up to Ulleri and Ghorepani. It takes 2 hours trekking from Tikhedhunga to Ulleri. Upon arrival at Ulleri, we will take a rest in a guest house and get refreshed. Enjoy the view of Annapurna South (7219m) and Himchuli (6641m).

  • Day 3 Ulleri to Ghorepani (2874m) Trek 6 hours.

    After breakfast, we will leave Ulleri for Ghorepani. It takes 5-6 hours of walk to reach Ghorepani. Our stone trail continues ascending through the wilds and tiny settlements. The beautiful rhododendron and oak forests and wonderful view of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre will keep us from getting drained. Our first cross Banthanti and after a couple of hours of climb, we reach Ghorepani at 2874m. Our permits to enter the Ghorepani will be checked here. Arrive at the guest /teahouse, get refreshed with some rest. The next is a Poonhill day, which lies just above to the west of Ghorepani and takes an hour walk to reach there. One with a good endurance can trace to Poonhill for the spectacular sunset view as well.

  • Day 4 Ghorepani to Poonhill (3210m) and trek back. 1 hour each. Ghorepani to Tadapani (2630) Trek 5 hours.

    Early morning, before dawn, we will hike up for an hour to Poonhill and to a vantage point out there at 3210m for a stunning sunrise view. We can have a glimpse of the vista of the Himalayan ranges. It’s so much breathtaking view when the first ray of the sun strikes those icy peaks and turning them into the golden pinnacles, the natural alchemy! We can enjoy the 360 views and the view of Dhaulagiri Range, Annapurna Range, Gangapurna, Hiunchuli, Lamjung, Manaslu, Ganesh and much more. We will spend some time there with some hot coffee or tea if we spot a mobile tea-guy selling out there. Hike back to Ghorepani and have breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue our journey hiking downhill crossing Deurali Danda towards Tadapani (2630m), it will take another 6 hours walking approx. However, we will not be escaping from those mountain views even while we are in Tadapani, situated below the Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). After arrival, toss yourself in the guest house for some rest. Evening dinner.

  • Day 5 Tadhapani to Ghandruk (1900m) Trek 3 hrs. Ghandruk to Kimchi Trek 30 mins. Kimchi to Pokhara Drive 3 hrs.

    We can still have that spectacular sunrise in Tadapani early in the morning. Let’s not miss it, if not so tired to get up early. We will enjoy the view and have breakfast. Today is the final day of our short trek and this is going to end at Ghandruk (1900m), which is about 3 hours of walk. Explore this large settlement of Gurung in Ghandruk for a while. We can visit Gurung Museum as well. After discovering the Ghandruk, we will hike down to Kimchi, from where we will catch the vehicle awaiting us and trace the road back to Pokhara, a driving distance of 2 to 3 hours. Arrive at the hotel in Pokhara and get refreshed with some rest. Evening time can be used for walking alongside the bank of Fewa Lake.
